Our group of 4 adults and 2 kids stayed at Inyati for 3 nights in June. Keith and Norman were our guide and tracker for our safaris. Keith is so passionate about wildlife and flowers and plants in the bush. He made our vacation memorable. He went out of his way to make sure we felt safe but at the same time had the best time of our lives. We saw all the Big 5 on our very first safari. We even saw a lion kill Buffalo and another group of lions feeding on another. After looking at some of the more expensive resorts such as Mala Mala and Londolozzi etc we decided on Inyati. Not only did we save money, but the experience we had here I doubt would be reproduced anywhere else. They were so thoughtful in organizing everything, from hot water bags on early morning safaris to warm blankets for the feet at night. We were vegetarians and I was packing some protein bars for the kids just in case the food was inadequate for vegetarians. We have never had such delicious vegetarian options in dinner and brunch. Absolutely wonderful! Would go again and again if I could and would request Keith every time !!
Inyati Game Lodge has the best location in the Sabi Sands Game Reserve because you have extensive views of the bush. You can sit on the terrace and watch the Elephants, antelopes, etc on the other side of the river bed. The lodge also does not have a fence which means that you have wild animals roaming through. We have seen lions, buffalo, elephant, and hippo. Because lodge has direct river frontage you often have the chance to see hippos at night as they usually come out to graze. The rooms are big, comfortable, clean and the service really friendly and helpful. Super Rangers! We have been regular visitors to this lodge for the past 10 years and I must say we have always had excellent game drives, always seen the big 5 and the quality has always been maintained.

I was 5 years ago and still remember how great it was. Amazing experience and incredible place ... Hotel, to call it is a spectacular lagoon, amidst the Kruger Park without barriers against animals. All fantastic, guides simpatiquisimos! One night we addressed the country a hippo in front of the door and we could not leave, but contemplate it eat 3 meters of you is priceless. Another day a stampede of elephants on the opposite hill, and finally an elephant eating up fresh plants of your window ... We were fortunate to see the big 5, 100% Recommended.

A true game experience in the Sabi Sands reserve. If you want to see a lot of game in a short space of time, consider visiting Sabi Sands. Excellent guides take you through the reserve with lots of sightings. We really had an amazing time at Inyati lodge.

“Perfect lodge and game viewing”
This was our first safari experience, we spent four nights at Inyati and enjoyed every minute. The setting is so beautiful, and the rooms look out onto the green lawn which rolls down to the river. It was such a treat to watch the elephants playing in the river while sunbathing at the pool. The lodge staff are so friendly and helpful, as soon as we arrived we were greeted by Dalinda and offered a cold drink, placed our lunch order and taken to our lovely room. The morning and evening drives are exceptional, each drive is a new and breathtaking experience. Our tracker Nelson and driver Piet were so knowledgable, my daughter hates spiders and Piet made sure the spiders and webs did not touch her as we drove along! We saw the big five many times in so many different situations as well as a wide variety of other animals and birds. Being our first safari I did not know what to expect but we will certainly return to Inyati again. We meet a group of friends who were on their sixth visit. One evening ride was very wet but the top went up and we were given rain ponchos, found the boys from the south (lions) sleeping then we followed them up the road for almost an hour marking their territory and playing together. (So sorry to hear about Mr. T it was a pleasure to have met this fine creature). Thank you Keith for your wealth of knowledge and ensuring everyone had a great time.

We first went in 2009 then made the long trip back again in 2011 and it was just a spectacular as the first time. The second time the in-laws came along and loved it just as much as us. Everything was perfect; the game drives right down to the food. Our driver and tracker Piet and Nelson were great. The food was magnificent and the location was spectacular. I am not usually one that is lost for words but Inyati left me speechless.
I had a fabulous time here. The eight game drives I went on were all amazing. We had a great ranger (Kimbini) and tracker (Richard) who are very enthusiastic and knowledgable. Kimbini is also a photographer so he was extremely skilled about positioning our vehicle in the best location for photos. We got surprisingly close to the animals without feeling unsafe. There were four to eight people on each drive, which is one of the differences from the more expensive lodges, but we did not have trouble seeing or getting good photos and videos.
The staff was warm and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure everyone had a good time. Food was very tasty. They were great about special requests, such as vegetarian food. All guests ate together, which I did not expect to like but it made the whole experience more fun and informal. The setting was beautiful. This may not be the most luxurious safari lodge but I found it to be very comfortable and I am not good about "roughing it."
As far as disadvantages, there are very, very few. There is no wifi but that is understandable as this is a safari. It was just a little frustrating though to have to wait to email our amazing photos to family. The gym also had minimal equipment and was very hot but this is not a huge deal as I did not see anyone else use it but myself.
It seemed that some of the guests have been to Sabi Sands multiple times and keep coming back to Inyati. I can now understand why. By the way, they have a nice Facebook page where you can follow some of the specific animals you saw on safari. I admit I have been checking this on a regular basis because it brings back so many great memories.
"what an experience!"
The Inyati Lodge not only met our expectations, but exceeded far! After we got our rental SUV geholpert an hour on impact hole-strewn dirt tracks, we finally arrived at our destination and were now very warmly welcomed. Our chalet was not set up very tasteful, but also surprisingly large and luxurious (the AC was at temperatures above 40 ° C a blessing). And the safaris were just unbelievable, fascinating wildlife viewing up close, exciting experiences, and especially skilled rangers and trackers! Extremely recommendable and very inexpensive!

The purpose of this email is to express my appreciation for the wonderful stay that myself, my wife, and our two children, Sarah and Alexa, had at Inyati from December 22-23. The lodge was every bit a nice as I remembered it, having stayed there before in December, 1993. The staff were wonderful, and the service exceptional. I especially enjoyed the live performance given during dinner in the boma. Our tracker, Nelson and our guide, Piet, were incredible, and went out of their way to show us more game in two days than we could have imagined possible. They were engaging, knowledgeable, and kind, and it was a pleasure being in their capable hands during our game drives.
Please thank the staff for a wonderful experience. As I am sure you are aware, the lodge is much more than a few buildings on a beautiful piece of property...it is the people who work there than make it so memorable an experience.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.

I spend a lot of time on safari in South Africa, visiting many lodges, but I go back to Inyati more than anywhere else. Forget Londolozi and Mala Mala, the game viewing in the Western Sabi Sand is the best, and George, the head ranger at Inyati, makes sure it is the best of the best! In three days at the end of August we saw wild dog puppies, lions fighting over a buffalo kill and so much more.
Inyati is old fashioned in its layout. You do not get the privacy of some newer lodges. But it makes up for that with the wonderful view down over the Sand River, which flows all year, and the animals moving up and down the river bed and often through the garden.
The normal rooms are very spacious and comfortable, and I am not sure it is worth paying extra for the luxury rooms. There is a big pool area for relaxing with a view down over the river. The food is good but it is normally served outside - it can be very cold in winter after dark.
But it is difficult to beat the overall package Inyati offers. My last visit in August was with the whole family, 10 of us aged from 75 down to 6, and we all cannot wait to go back.

We spent three nights of our honeymoon at Inyati and had a fantastic time! The game viewing was excellent, the location is like paradise on earth and the staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The guides are excellent and make sure you see all the animals you could possibly imagine. In short: it was like a dream come true for us!

This was probably one of our best holidays. We researched safaris in South Africa extensively and chose Inyati based on location (Sabi Sands) and price which was lower than most of the more famous reserves in Sabi Sands. We realized on the first day that guests at the more expensive resorts drove around in the same area or at least close enough, and probably saw as much or as little as we did, only they paid quite a lot more. The twice-daily drives were fabulous; we saw at least two or three of the big five each time, going up close and observing for as long as twenty minutes. We saw the smaller animals too, including mongoose and birds. The food was very good with generous portions.
The staff were extremely helpful and very hospitable. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The walks were wonderful. Special mention MUST go to our ranger, Keith, who clearly loved his job and seemed to be a walking encyclopaedia with all his information about the animals, the plants and even some of the animals' private lives! If we had to do another safari, this is definitely the place we'll be going back to.
Thank you Inyati for a most memorable experience.
Riette and George Dolezal
We have just returned from our weekend at Inyati and we would like to let you know that this is by far the very best private game lodge that we have been to. Our guide Piet is really a very pleasant guy and is extremely knowledable. Normally the guides are good with game viewing but it is seldom that we find a guide with the bird knowledge that Piet has. We would also like to thank you for the lovely gift that we have received.
Thank you once again

We are the two Italian guests who have spent 4 nights this month at your lodge.
We need to thank you for your welcome, we had a beautiful stay -thank you also to all the Inyati team, and we feel like a family.
We remember this holiday like a precious experience. Leave has been strong, every day we speak about these days. If we think the next week we restart to work (8 hours for 5 days closed in an office), we understand you are really lucky to stay all your time in that wonderful land every day enjoying nature.
We have made several safaris in different locations but this time is different: the regrets and the homesickness are really too hard.
We hope to come back another time for more days. The dream should be to stay forever in your land, unfortunately we think is only a dream......
A special thanks is for you: we have heard a real love you have for your work and we have now the "infection".Many greetings dear (also to the small rhino).

We were recently guests at Inyati where our experience there far exceeded any expectations we had prior to arrival. The grounds, suites and meals were wonderful but our guide Khim truly made our safari extraordinary. He is exceptionally bright and intuitive, has a remarkable understanding of the animals and shares his expertise with the guests beautifully.

Finally returning back to Sweden from my first visit to South Africa, the top of my top list of stunning experiences from the country is housed by the visit to Inyati Game Reserve!
I tell my friends, as well as my extensive network of business colleagues, about the extremely exciting game drives, all the fabulous animals we saw - not only the Big Five, but also wild dogs, giraffes, hippopotamus, hyenas, zebras, gnus … and so many more, and all in close up, I’m overwhelmed ! - as well as the perfect lodging and all the wonderful food you served! I therefore want to express my outmost gratitude for all this!
Best regards – and I hope to come back soon!

My husband and I stayed at Inyati on November 17-20. We want to thank you for your great hospitality and especially our rangers, Keith and George, and trackers, Norman and Solly, for showing us some of the best game viewings we've had anywhere in Africa! The hot pursuit of the wild dogs tops our experience as the most exciting and memorable game drive! When we return to Sabi Sand for another safari, we'll definitely stay at Inyati again!
Geoff / South Africa
My mate and I headed out to Inyati for a boys weekend back in February 2010 and still talk about to this day. I've been to my share of private lodges, but Inyati really does provide the delicate mix between class and that rough feeling of being in the bush! Fantastic food, staff and sightings. And relaxing in the pool with a few cold beers in the afternoon watching elephants graze in the front garden was just about the coolest thing I've ever been a part of! Cheers!

14 Sept 2002 - 14 Sept 2010: eight years have passed! But i can't forget the fabulous experience in Inyati Lodge. I remember the cocktail near hippos, elephant and lioness's hunting. Oh Dear, what spectacular images. We must return! Gratefully.

My husband and I went to South Africa for our honeymoon July 2009 and Inyati was the last reserve we stayed at before heading back home, and it was by far the best and our favorite. The food was amazing, the accommodations were fantastic, and the game drives were simply incredible. Keith is a great host and provided the most memorable experience for us. We saw hippos get in a fight, a baby leopard, and an elderly leopard make what might have been his last kill. It was truly an incredible experience and when we hopefully return to South Africa we will definitely stay at Inyati.

The Inyati lodge gave me the by far greatest wild animal life experience in my life. Even though it was winter the 3 days we were there, we saw the big five and lots of other animals. The chilling time on the lodge was nice, because you get to know the other visitors and the friendly staff. We really enjoyed the hospitality.

Just returned from two weeks in Africa. Inyati was the highlight. We didn't need the game drives as we saw many animals on the grounds. However, George and Solly, ranger and tracker extraordinaire, found the Big 5 in two drives, and everything after that was icing on the cake. Thanks to everyone there for the outstanding time. Hope to return soon.
Keith, Cain and Sean / United Kingdom
This was our 4th time at Inyati and again, it was fantastic. It is difficult to say each time gets better, but each time it delivers something unique that will live in the mind forever.
The big 5 were seen numerous times, but the Mapogo pride at night surrounding the vehicle were stunning, and provided a truly spine tingling experience. That combined with the pursuit of the wild dogs to watch them "enjoy" their Impala kill, I suspect will never be bettered in a visit to Africa again.
Piet and Nelson were the stars of the truck this time and Hazel in reception ensured the visit went very smoothly.
Levy behind the bar understood the meaning of a cold beer (and plenty thereof) - and right from the start, Priscilla was hugely helpful in getting us exactly what we needed.
Roll on visit number 5 - and time for the kids to come :-)
Janet Czekirda / Germany
A fantastic pre-Christmas stay with great game viewing. Well done to Piet and Nelson who showed us the BIG 5 many times and wild dog chases that left us stunned! Dinner in the bush is a highlight with local dancing etc. Food was non fussy - salads and meats etc and was perfect. Rooms give you a feeling of sleeping right out in the bush with the wildlife - which frequently comes to visit. Staff went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted. Many thanks go especially to Piet and Nelson for their personal service which we much appreciated. My son Oliver is now a Wildlife fan and we will all come again.

Thank you for all the great memories! We had such a great stay I promised myself to write a great review as soon as I got back home.
After 3 days, we hated to leave. Our expectations were totally exceeded. Location, food, rooms, staff... EXCELLENT! We drove from Joburg, and even before getting there, elephants and giraffes crossed our path.
Game drives were the ultimate experience. We saw the Big 5 many times. Thanks George and Sully for all the game viewing and perfect photo opportunities!
Great extras — Superb details (4-pole beds with mosquito nets, hot water bottles and blankies for cold early morning game drives, mosquito repellent cans in your room).
If we go back to SA, we will definitely repeat!
Terry Prendergast / Australia
We had the most amazing 4 days at Inyati. The setting, food, service and brilliant staff have made this a trip I will never forget. We got close up to all the big 5 plus many other animals including cheetahs. The highlight was following the pride of 7lions in the evening and being lucky enough to witness them hunt and kill 3 Wildebeest.
Special thanks to our guide George and tracker Solly you guys are the best.
We are already planning our next visit to Inyati.
James, Sheri, Shaun and Georgia Stokell / Australia
We loved Inyati, it was absolutely fantastic. We saw all the animals thanks to Collin and Nelson, who made sure we got a very close view. Our highlights were the pride of lions including 6 cubs, a herd of around 35 elephants that strolled past our car and the leopard that Georgia discovered right behind us!!!. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay remarkable. We will be back.
Andrew & Rosie Harris / Australia
A truly wonderful experience and one that we would recommend to all. It is the total experience - great animal viewing , great food, great accommodation and great people.
David and Rosamund / Romania
Thanks to you all at Inyati for making our safari holiday the best imaginable. We had the most amazing time from seeing the Big 5 on our first morning drive aswell as a couple of cheetahs to our last evening meal with hippos grazing on the lawn a few metres away from the veranda. Just wonderful.
As well as the amazing wildlife, the location of Inyati plus the lovely service, accommodation and food make it a place we would definitely recommend. We hope to see you again very soon.

“Loads of wildlife”
My father and I were there in June 2007. It was beautiful: we saw a lot of wildlife, more and more as we expected. We saw many leopards, the animals that we were more interested in. Really wonderful; we also stayed at Mala Mala; the hotel was more luxurious, but we spent the double and we saw half of the animale comparing to Inyati!
Inyati was everything we could have hoped for and more. Our guide, George, and tracker, Soli, had extraordinary abilities to find animals. Being on a private reserve, outside the park, we could drive off road and avoid huge crowds around animals (the reserve limits viewing to two vehicles at a time). We wound up seeing all the large game in the area, beyond the big 5. Back at the Lodge, the service and food were first rate. We were able to view game from the Lodge, also. We appreciated the gym to help us work off the great food, as well as the excellent wine cellar.
“A very special experience”
We stayed for four days which was just the right amount of time. Private game lodges are not cheap of course but if you are going to spend time on safari better to go the extra mile and spend more money because it is a very special experience. Now is not the time to go cheap.
We had an absolutely fantastic ranger. After just one day, we had most of the big five seen and after our four days, we could not have asked for more and saw everything from a leopard eating her prey to two lions mating. It really was incredible.
The lodge is very comfortable and seemed more authentically African than the competition - which is why we chose it and it lived up to expectations. The meals outside under an African sky with an open fire were really beautiful.
Indeed all the staff are great there. Tips are pooled at the end. Everything else (with the exception of alcoholic drinks with dinner) is included in the price.
We are not really "group tour" people - and this was my only reservation (pardon the pun). Your meals and safaris are very planned. But for four days, it is not really a problem and there is a turnover of people during that time which is interesting, so it is a small consideration
We have just returned to polluted Hong Kong from serene Sabi Sands. Our stay at Inyati private game reserve was truly exceptional. Firstly the lodge is in true African bush style. Just ten chalets set in wonderful grounds overlooking the river. We stayed in the executive chalet which was spacious having both front and back balconies. Our children stayed in a standard chalet with twin beds - this chalet is very big and actually has a third small bed in it. The chalets are being refurbished to a high standard.
There are game drives in the early morning and the afternoon running into night. We had the marvellous services of Pete and Nelson. They proved to be exceptional trackers of wild game. We saw the Big Five of course but much more. There was the drama of tracking a lion and his mate all morning and when we finally ran them to ground they strolled just a few feet past us. We found a leopard with its kill up a tree. An elephant charged us. We suddenly discovered a rhino and her month old baby. And so much more. And all thanks to Pete and Nelson.
Our meals were usually taken outside and around a fire. The food was good, standard fare. The breakfast/brunch on return from the morning game drive was very good. Eggs cooked to order etc. Fresh bread.
The staff were all extremely friendly especially Hazel on reception. On top of all this Inyati is great value for money. It is certainly considerably less expensive than many of the surrounding lodges and I would suggest that it probably is as good as them.
FYI we flew direct to the lodge from Joburg Airport using Federal Air. They picked us up from the airport and took us to their private lounge where there are complimentary drinks and snacks. They have an outdoor area as well and is extremely comfortable. We had to wait four hours for our connection and were very pleased to have the use of this facility.
The overall cost of safaris in private game reserves/lodge is costly but believe me they are well worth it.
Sutton Coldfield, United Kingdom
“Amazing experience you must go”
We spent 4 nights at the Inyati Private game reserve between 22.1.08 - 26.1.08.
We flew into Inyati which was a good option in my opinion as it saved time and on speaking to other travellers they all encountered problems with the police stopping them for "speeding" and fining them varying amounts of money or alternatively they could visit the local police station. This upset the travellers obviously as the fines were for the policeman’s pocket and not official.
Inyati is the most beautiful place in the most fantastic setting. It is close to the river which always attracts the local animals. The chalets are fantastic, idyllic. Very well equipped and cleaned on a daily basis.
The food was wonderful and very varied. We had two game drives per day. The first starts by being woke at 5am. You meet for a light breakfast and tea / coffee/ juice then you are off on your safari. We were lucky enough to see the big 5 the first drive.
You then have breakfast on your return. You meet for a light tea at 5pm and then off on the evening game drive. You have sundowner drinks whilst out and then your evening meal is about 8.30pm.
We took some of the best photos ever. The scenery is spectacular and I would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone. The staff are great and our ranger George was featured in the National Geographic magazine. He certainly knew his stuff. Our tracker was Solly. Both were excellent at their jobs.
This will go down as one of our favourite holidays.
The animals we saw lions, leopards cheetahs, rhino, buffalo, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, wildebeest, birds galore including eagles, vultures, storks, owls. We saw a white impala that has never been seen before.
You must go and see it for yourself it is well worth the money.
“What a fantastic place”
We had a brilliant stay at Inyati and enjoyed every moment. The view from the terrace was super and so was the game drive, the food and the hospitality we met. We will definitely be back.
“Fantastic First Safari Experience”
For my first trip to Africa and first safari I did a lot of research. Everything about Inyati came back favorable and I am thrilled to report that my expectations were consistently exceeded. I loved the small lodge experience, the fantastic ranger and tracker, the huge amount of food, the special cozy touches. This place was a bargain in my book for everything you got. Customer service was impeccable and everyone was so friendly, including the other guests. I'm usually not one for travelling and dining with strangers, but here it was just exciting to share the experience with others from around the world (including many from South Africa, which I took as a good sign since the 'locals' clearly loved it too). I would go back in one second .
“Absolutely loved this place!!!”
My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in April after a recommendation from my best friend who is a South African. WHAT a GREAT recommendation. From the moment we arrived we felt we were at home. Grant and Sandra made us feel so welcome and relaxed.
George and Solly did an EXCELLENT job on the game drives, just incredible! I could not have imagined anything more wonderful than seeing all the big five, baby lions, baby hyenas coming out of their home for the first couple days. AND two elephants swimming and bathing together.
The time at Inyati was just amazing! The staff, the food, the comfy beds, the fabulous bath. I just LOVED it here! LOVED IT. We will for sure be back! If you are considering going to this area of the game reserves, Inyati is a must!
Jill Germany / Baden
We stayed here for 2 nights after having been to 2 other game lodges (4 game drives @ 3+ hours). This was the best. The accommodation was very well furnished and the rooms were very big. Excellent facilities. Food was very good, local specialities, and a good selection. The most important factor for me was the excellence and enthusiasm of the game rangers - they made every effort to spot all types of game - our ranger was a leopard fan (4 sightings!). We also sighted 3 cheetahs, and followed them for 20 mins through the bush, absolutely incredible. A holiday of a lifetime.
